Care Guide – Alocasia micholitziana
1. Light
Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid direct sun which can burn the soft, velvety leaves. A north- or east-facing window, or filtered light, works well.
2. Water
Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Water when the top 2–3 cm (1 inch) of soil feels dry. During winter, reduce watering and allow the plant to rest.
3. Humidity
High humidity (60–80%) is essential. If the air is dry, use a humidifier or place the plant near other tropicals to create a microclimate.
4. Temperature
Prefers temperatures between 18–27°C (65–80°F). Avoid cold air, drafts, and temperatures below 15°C (59°F).
5. Soil
Use a well-draining aroid mix: 1 part potting soil, 1 part perlite, 1 part orchid bark or coco coir. The roots need airflow to stay healthy.
Feeding
Feed monthly in spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Do not fertilize during dormancy.
Growth Tips
This Alocasia may go dormant in cooler months—yellowing leaves are normal. Keep caring for the root system, and new growth will return in spring.
